Our General Dentistry Services

About

Any dental work that doesn’t involve replacing a tooth is considered general dentistry. Restorative dentistry seeks to restore a patient’s natural teeth whenever possible rather than extract them and replace them. Restorative dentistry includes procedures like filling cavities, installing custom inlays and onlays, and performing root canals.

Tooth Fillings
Fillings are used to restore teeth that have small cavities or cracks and need to be repaired. Dental fillings not only prevent further decay and the associated pain, but they also lessen sensitivity by covering up vulnerable areas of the tooth where the enamel has worn away.

Dental Crowns

Ceramic, porcelain, or metal-fused-to-porcelain crowns are all examples of man-made tooth caps. A crown is a cap placed over a tooth to protect it and make it look natural.

Dental Inlays & Onlays
Rear teeth that have decay, cracks, or fractures can be restored with a dental inlay or onlay, which function similarly to a large filling. Unlike an onlay, which is cemented onto a tooth, an inlay is bonded directly into the tooth.

Root Canals
When a tooth’s pulp has been severely damaged by decay or trauma, the only treatment options are root canal therapy (also known as endodontic therapy) or extraction. Dentists perform root canal therapy on patients who, rather than having their natural teeth extracted and replaced with implants or prosthetics, prefer to keep their natural teeth in place.

Tooth Extractions
When a tooth has decay that prevents it from being restored, Professor Ganananda Nanayakkara can also remove it. For orthodontic treatment, tooth replacement, or the extremely rare occurrence of a tooth being in the way of other teeth, tooth extraction may also be necessary.
